Orphanides & Co is looking for a skilled and motivated Accounting/Tax Manager to join their team in Whitestone, NY. Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the preparation and review of individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns (1040, 1120, 1065)
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
- Manage client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact for tax planning and accounting inquiries
- Perform financial statement preparation, review, and analysis
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and filing requirements
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide strategic tax planning advice to clients
- Assist with bookkeeping, payroll, and general ledger oversight as needed
Requirements:
- CPA license or EA designation
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting and tax management
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSeries, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes, regulations, and compliance
- Experience managing and reviewing the work of junior staff
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines
