About the Role:
Orphanides & Co is looking for a detail-driven Senior Accountant to join their team in Whitestone, NY. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and general ledger entries
- Manage bookkeeping and accounting assignments for multiple clients
- Complete month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank/credit card reconciliations and adjusting journal entries
- Assist with tax preparation, sales tax, compliance, and filing for clients or internal operations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory standards, and internal controls
- Collaborate with junior accounting staff and provide guidance as needed
- Communicate directly with clients, research tax questions, and assist with tax notices
- Manage deadlines and bring significant issues to firm leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of progressive accounting experience in a professional setting
- CPA license or active CPA candidacy strongly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
